Team Captain Committee Relations 2021 IUPUI Dance Marathon

The Last Dance (Marathon)

My name is Libby Rohr and I'm pleased to serve on the Jagathon 2021 Executive Board as the Director of Committee Relations. I started my journey with Jagathon my freshman year of college. I knew I wanted to get more involved somehow and someway on IUPUI's campus. Little did I know that I would fall in love with such an amazing and life changing organization. I remember to this day when I first got a text about joining the Fundraising Committee. I didn't know exactly what I was getting myself into, but I knew I wanted to try it out and get myself out there. I'll be honest when I say I wasn't that much involved my freshman year. I didn't know what I was getting myself into and I didn't realize how much of a huge committeemen being a part of this organization really is!

After a long stressful, hard-working months getting ready and preparing for 15 hours on my feet, the day finally comes. I'm constantly running around helping in any way I can to make sure the participants, families, friends, and sponsors are enjoying themselves. It finally turns 3AM when the final reveal is about to be revealed. The cards start to flip and the total of over half a million dollars appears. My heart was pounding, the tears were flowing, and in that moment I knew that all my hard-work had paid off and I needed to continue with Jagathon the rest of my college years.

That's where it all started. My love for Jagathon, Dance Marathons, and Riley Hospital for Children have grown and consumed my heart. Day in and day out, I know I'm doing all of this to make a difference. We truly are the generation, fighting for the next. I'm so very blessed to be on the 2021 Jagathon Executive Board serving as Director of Committee Relations. In that moment when I received the position, I knew that all my work and dedication has paid off to get me to where I am today. You might ask, why do you dance? What makes you stand on your feet for 15 hours and fundraise all year? I dance for those families and siblings. I dance because a kid should have one more birthday, one more Christmas, have a graduation, have a prom night. No kid should have those moments taken away from them. I dance for playgrounds, rather than hospital beds. All kids should be outside playing without a care in the world, rather than being stuck in a hospital worrying about their next shot or treatment.

Won't you please join me and raising money for Riley Hospital for Children?! My personal goal this year is $2,000. All of this is possible with your help. Myself and the kiddos at Riley appreciate your contribution. I'm very excited to see what Jagathon 2021 is going to accomplish this year, and I'm so excited to take you on the journey with me!
