On March 3rd, I will stand on my feet for 12 hours as part of Terp Thon, the Miracle Network Dance Marathon at the University of Maryland to benefit Children’s National Health System!
I joined Terp Thon my first semester of freshman year, because I wanted to get involved in something at Maryland, but this something turned into everything I love about school. Terp Thon makes you believe in miracles, because we get to see them everyday.
Miracle Network Dance Marathons are a growing trend across colleges nationwide to raise funds and awareness for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Because of our efforts, the US News & World Report once again named Children’s National to the Honor Roll of the best children’s hospitals in the country!
I am fortunate to not have any loved ones directly affected by childhood illness, but my why came to me when I saw Children's National Health System for the first time. When I walked in it felt inviting, which is not usually the feeling you get when you are at the hospital. It felt like a place you could be yourself. On my tour, we were passing the Bell of Hope, which is a ceremonial bell that is used a patient has beaten cancer. We saw a little girl ring the victory bell to celebrate the journey she has gone through and look to the future with so much hope! This changed me, because I saw how much of an impact Terp Thon has.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page and helping make miracles happen!
