Team Captain Team Abby May Baltimore Boogie 2020

Hey There!

Many of you know that I was blessed to become an Aunt in May of 2018. My niece, Abigail, was born after a difficult pregnancy at 26.3 weeks and was immediately sent to our NICU. She had many ups and downs and it definitely was scary for our family to live firsthand what so many families have experienced. When I meet with families to learn and share their story, I always hear them say how lucky they feel to have JHCC in their backyard, how you never know when you will need to call on this amazing place, and how they never felt it would happen to them - all of this could not ring more true. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined we would have become a Miracle Family ourselves.

Many of you also know that I am a fundraiser at Johns Hopkins Children's Center and how passionate I am about the work our wonderful faculty and staff do at this amazing place. I feel so lucky everyday that I am entrusted to share the courageous stories of the superhero families I meet. But never in a million years did I think it would be my family that would need JHCC. It’s a surreal feeling to go from being a storyteller to having my own story to tell. I am so thankful for the place that has saved the lives of countless families, and now my own. You never know when you will need a place like JHCC, until you do. My family is living proof of this.

This year, my family is especially thankful for the care JHCC provides, as Abby spent nearly the first year of her life fighting for her life at Johns Hopkins Children's Center - 314 days. She finally was able to come March 11, 2019. I am so grateful that Abby is a Hopkins Kid. She is a miracle.

Now instead of fighting for her life, Abby fought to crawl and now run and is unstoppable. She fights with her mom about wearing the most adorable glasses you have ever seen. She fights with me when I tell her no and runs around waving her little finger yelling “no, no, no!” That little girl is and will always be a fighter.

My goal is to raise $3,140 dollars for Hopkins Children's - $10 for each day Abby was in our care.

Please support kids like Abby – they need your help! This is your opportunity to pay it forward - make your gift and help ensure this place is here for families to come - families that never knew they would need JHCC - families that one day might be yours.

Thank you for visiting and for supporting Abby and me in our 4th annual event! #baltimoreboogie #teamabbymay #thoshebelittleshebefierce #preemiestrong #givingfeelsgood #tinyfighter

For the kids,

Cindy
